Children's Eye Exam
Eye exams for children are extremely important, because 5 to 10 percent of preschoolers and 25 percent of school-aged children have vision problems. According to the American Optometric Association (AOA), infants should have their first comprehensive eye exam at 6 months of age. Children then should have additional eye exams at age 3, and just before they enter first grade - at about age 5 or 6. We offer comprehensive eye exams to children age 3 and up.
Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases in which the optic nerve is damaged in a characteristic pattern, usually from increased pressure inside the eye. This can permanently damage vision in the affected eye and lead to blindness if left untreated. Most types of glaucoma are slow, progressive without any visual symptoms, which makes routine screening extremely important. We evaluate the health of your eyes and use multiple methods to look for signs of glaucoma in order to give you proactive care to prevent any loss of vision.
Diabetes Eye Exam
The eyes are a window into your body's total state of wellness. Diabetic eye examinations look for conditions which may appear in your retina (the back of your eyes) long before symptoms manifest in other areas of your body. Patients with diabetes are recommended to have a diabetes eye examination at least once a year depending on the health of their retina and the control of their diabetes.
Dry Eye Treatment
Do you have painful, continually dry and irritated eyes? Do you have burning, stinging, and/or foreign body sensation in your eyes? Do you experience vision fluctuation, light sensitivity, or excess watering of your eyes? All of these may be symptoms of dry eye syndrome and we can examine your eyes and evaluate your conditions. You may be a good candidate for dry eye therapy which our doctor can develop for you tailoring to your symptoms.
Eye Allergy Treatment
Southern California is a region where pollen count is among the highest in the United States. Patients who suffer from seasonal allergy may experience symptoms including swollen eyelids, red, watery, and itchy eyes. While Zyrtec and Claritin may alleviate some of the ocular symptoms, patients often experience side effects with oral-antihistamine. There are effective allergy eye drops that our doctor can prescribe for you to resolve the symptoms without any systemic side effects.
